Last week was a blur. I remember nothing. This weeknote will be a short one.
Work
- I literally did not work last week. I attended my regular Tuesday calls and requested a few reviews here and there.
Not work
- There was so much not-work, and most of it was the IWC Special Edition talk. I was zoned IN. I gave it my all. I became the talk myself. I spent 4 nights up until 3:00 AM (some of that was just due to bad time management on my part) making those goddamn mockups for the last 3 slides. I was trying to communicate ideas about different UI paradigms that a social space could operate in. It was an interesting exercise in product ideation, except I was speedrunning it at 50x with no user feedback. I found myself always thinking about it as a product but this was not the time to do that, I just needed to communicate the vibes. I actually quite enjoyed the process though, it was a refreshing change from the problems I normally deal with.
- Everything in the week lead up to the Special Edition event. It was very well put together! It felt like it had the best parts of a bigger conference with the intimacy of a smaller crowd. I learnt so many new things and talked to so many new folks. The world is such an interesting place!
- I was looking forward to a relaxing Sunday after a very busy week but I woke up to the unexpected news that our gas cylinders has been stolen. That's cylinders, plural. After a couple phone calls we realized that we won't have had for at least 2 days, so I spent that morning and afternoon going to every electronics store in the area to look for an induction stove, only to have the metaphorical door slammed shut in my face. I honestly did not expect 4 of the biggest electronics stores in Koramangala to be clean out of induction stoves. I ended up getting my mom's help to order one online. It's a rough world out there, folks.
- I do not follow the IPL but I couldn't resist watching the finals knowing that RCB was playing. I spent my Sunday evening as God intended with cricket, biryani, coke, and good company.
Discoveries
- Happy Belly Bakes makes the best gluten free vegan mango cake.
- There's a crazy new hydration/wellness shot going around called pickld, and it's literally just pickle juice. Bear got one for me from his climbing gym and I'm hooked.
That's it for tonight, folks!
